What is Circumcision?

Circumcision is a medical process that removes the foreskin which covers the glans that is the head of the penis. Usually new born babies undergo circumcision shortly after their birth. Circumcision fundamentally began as a religious rite but it is now quite prevalent worldwide . Today people get circumcised for various eclectic reasons such as religious, cultural and medical.

New born baby boys are circumcised ideally within the first week of their birth. Adults also get circumcised, though this is not very common.

Topical or locally injected anesthesia is normally used in order to mitigate the pain or any physiologic stress. Also in our medical domain, circumcision is a preferable treatment option for various problematic cases of balanoposthitis and phimosis that do not get resolve with other medial treatments. Circumcision is also one of the best remedies and the last resort for cases of chronic urinary tract infections (UTIs).
