What is a Gallstones?

Also known as cholelithiasis ,Gallstones are pieces of solid material that are formed inside a gallbladder that is a small organ under the liver. In case you suffer from gallstones, you might have heard your doctor tell you that you have cholelithiasis.

Our gallbladder stores and releases bile that is a fluid made inside the liver which helps in digestion. Bile also carries wastes like bilirubin and cholesterol which our body makes when it breaks down the red blood cells. These things can usually lead to formation of the gallstones.

There can be a single or even multiple gall stones inside your body which might cause pain in different parts of your body.

Symptoms:-

• Pain in the abdominal region
• Fever
• Pain after consumption of food
• Pain in and between your shoulders
• Uneasyness in your stomach

Causes:-

• Drinking unfiltered water
• Increase in cholesterol level
• Enhancement of bilirubin
• The gallbladder may not empty in a correct manner

Gallstones may range from the size of a grain of sand to that of a huge golf ball. You might not know that you have gallstones until and unless they block a bile duct that causses severe pain which requires immediate treatment.
