What is a Fissure Disease?

Fissure is a medical term that alludes to the tearing of our skin near the rectum. Generally, fissures may get cured within a few days or few weeks at max, often without even the need for any treatment. These are not known to cause much complication.

There can be varied different causes of anal fissures. These usually include rectum cancer, anal sex, vaginal childbirth and prolonged diarrhoea etc. However in most of the cases, the reason behind occurrence of fissure is usually strained bowel movement or continuous constipation. This therefore causes tearing down of the muscles that are responsible for controlling the sphincters to the anal canal or to the inner rectum.

Symptoms:-

  • Pain around the rectum area
  • Pain while passing a stool
  • Uneasy irritation feeling around the anus area
  • Cracked skin
  • Blood on the stool after defecating

Causes:-

  • Regular constipation
  • Defecating hard stool
  • Sexual transmitted diseases
  • Tuberculosis
  • Crohn’s disease
  • Pressuring while passing the stool
  • Anal Intercourse
  • Child delivery

Some symptoms that are commonly associated with anal fissure consists of pain that is caused during bowel movement in or around the anal region. This is usually accompanied by a constant itching or a burning sensation inside the anus along with bloody stool. There are also visible tears and cracks around the anal region.
